I sent all my teacher recs, transcripts, and forms on the 31st by mail. But the checklist shows that Duke only got my transcripts, even though everything was in one package. I then got an email 5 days ago saying that I need to re-send the missing material or my application will be terminated by Feb. 10th. I sent the missing material by priority mail on Friday and Duke still hasn't updated my check list. ***?

Duke and UVa are the only schools giving me problems. Yale, Stanford, MIT, Harvard, Princeton, WashU have gotten everything.

Have you tried calling Admissions? I had the same problem and I called them, and they told me they received everything. Some papers were just clumped with the "missing" materials. Within the couple weeks after I called, my application status was completed.

Brave Ulysses. If they made the same mistake twice, I have the right to be pretty upset. Misplacing material two times isn't acceptable. If you read what I posted than you would know.

Well, if you just sent it on Friday it usually takes more than a week for them to update things. If you call them to explain your situation I promise they will be understanding and will most certainly not terminate your application.

Be patient. The admissions officers work hard and not only were applications up around 17% this year, but their switching to entirely-online reading of applications. They have a lot of paperwork and it takes awhile to get through things.

My S had a similar problem with his transcript. He received an email saying they did not have his transcript but had the secondary school report and they had been sent in the same envelope for which he had a signed delivery receipt. He called admissions and a woman told him that the transcript had been scanned then destroyed, but when they tried to read the scan it was illegible. She was very helpful. He sent the transcript again to her attention and now all is updated on the checklist. You will find Duke admissions people to be very helpful when contacted. I was amazed when my son told me that they even answered the phone. Give them a call and please do not tell them that their actions are "unacceptable." Your admission is in their hands.
