looking forward to applying next year!

I made a CC account just for this thread. :)

The Program specifications said that there would be 60 students admitted this year; however, someone mentioned that there’s actually a total of 120. Is this true?

Also, I haven’t taken the SAT 1 yet; I’m taking it in March. Would this significantly affect my chances of being admitted?

I’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, so I didn’t know about LBW up until this Friday. Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

I would send in your PSAT if you have it. March SAT is the 10th, score is not available until 2 weeks later. I would email them this particular question.

edited …

@Jingerale: “Wharton will select 60 highly diverse participants to attend each campus.” Two campuses -> 120 students

Thanks for the clarifications!

Also…
I’m the president of our school’s FBLA chapter and since I’ve been closely working with our adviser throughout the year, I would love to have him write a letter of recommendation. Would having a teacher, serving as an adviser, write a letter of recommendation be allowed?

Yeh that should be fine. Though you need 2 letters of recommendations.
- I myself and thinking about getting my advisor to write my 2nd one.

I was wondering if the student can choose east or west campus in the application.

They give you a chance to tell them your first choice, but you might not necessarily end up where you want to be since there’s only 60 spots for each campus. If you don’t mind either of the campuses you can just chose both. But if you only want to be at one campus, and won’t go to the other one even if you got accepted in the other one, make sure you tell the LBW people that you only want to apply to one campus.

oh, where can I state my campus preference? in the LBW optional essay?

Also,
I was wondering whether international students get I-20 forms (to get visa) since I don’t want to pay the fees without having the certainty of obtaining a visa.

Thanks

It should ask on your app if you are applying for east, west, or both. Check whichever box you prefer. Just so you all know, both campuses are equally amazing and so unique that you’ll grow to love either one. There’s so much rivalry between the two during week 4 haha

Thanks Brookie17 and insomniac93 for the info.

There is nowhere in the application that gives you the option to choose. Maybe the site preference can be expressed in the optional why LBW answer.

I haven’t found it either !

Thank you all for great info!
I have a question here,
are we gonna get any college credits by attending LBW?

Hey guys, I went to LBW West last summer so if you have any questions I may be able to help. Here’s just some general info.

Applying/Admissions:
-120 accepted (60 at each campus), 343 applied
-I was accepted with a PSAT score that was below national merit level and I hadn’t taken SAT/ACT yet when I applied
-unique extracurriculars seemed to be important, probably more so than test scores
-the caliber of students on both campuses seemed pretty high
-about 20 of the 60 on each campus were international

West vs. East:
-I applied to both (with East preference)
-the biggest difference between East and West is the type of companies you visit (look at the schedules on the LBW website)
-East got to visit banks and big firms; West visited Google, eBay, Tesla, and a small startup
-West stays at San Francisco State University, which a nice campus, and you are bussed to the Wharton MBA building downtown San Francisco (about 20 minutes) everyday
-East stays in the Quad at Penn
-West flies to Philly for the final week of the program and stays the same place as East

Misc:
-I’m not sure how much going to LBW will help getting into Wharton. A good amount of kids were accepted Early Decision. Some were deferred/rejected
-You should do LBW because you’re sincerely interested in business and not just because you want to get into Wharton

@rlaqhaud LBW doesn’t give college credit as far as I know

Hey everyone, please chance me this year for Wharton LBW. I go to a pretty competitive Catholic school with the full IB program in Pennsylvania. Here goes:

GPA: 4.0 UW/not sure what it is weighted, it was 5.4 at end of sophomore year
All honors fresh/soph year with 97-100(A+) in all but two(in those I got 96’s)
Junior year schedule(full IB):
IB Biology HL
IB History of Europe HL
IB Economics SL
IB Math Studies SL
IB Spanish SL
IB English HL
TOK
Religion 3
This is definitely the most rigorous courses I could have taken at my school.

PSAT: 216 (75 CR, 66 M, 75 Writing)
Taking SAT in March for the first time

School EC’s
President and Founder of Economics Club

Essays are decent, recs should be good

So what do you think?

@lake2013 sorry, the app might’ve changed a bit since last year. You can emphasize it in your essay, but I’m pretty sure that you’ll be asked
which campus you prefer in the app just so JKCP can put your app in the right pile.

Wahh this thread is making me so nostalgic

my march SAT scores are coming out tomorow, hope its gonna be good so i can send them…

Thanks for all your answers.

One more question for the old timers here.

Is this camp designed solely for students who are determined to study business in college? Or is it also suitable for students who are still wondering about what to major in college and would like to learn more about different aspects of business?
