LBW Wharton 2018

@yaoqian I’d like to join the group as well! Pm me if you set up the group!

My son also got in from Mumbai, India

Did anyone also apply to MTSI?

So I guess it’s looking like waitlisted probably won’t get accepted :frowning: Does anyone know of any other summer programs that aren’t done with their applications yet? Probably a long shot but I was relying too much on LBW

Also I’m trying to make a group, but I need to have one member as a friend first, anyone willing to divulge their details?

Apparently, PM doesn’t work for new members like me. Can a junior member pls PM me thoo

@sheeebsauce Me too. Very sad, however, the cost of $7.5k is a high price anyway.

Also, what are your stats? I guess we can compare waitlisted :frowning:

@oceantriumph here’s my waitlisted stats

Asian male from basically right outside of Philadelphia. Did apply for financial aid

GPA: 4.0/ 4.0 unweighted, 5.0/5.3 weighted
SAT: 1500/1600 (I got a 1580 on my second attempt but the applications were already over. Anyone think they would let me send in my 1580 now?)
PSAT: 1470/1520, 221
SATII: 780 US History
AP: 4 World History, 5 US History
Very rigorous course load, 6 APs including Econ in junior year.

My school is also a really competitive 2,000+ student suburban public school but we do not have class ranks.

3 Extracurriculars that I talked about:

Co-President of speech and debate, also was a semi finalist (3rd place) in the state tournament last year for Parliamentary debate.

DECA business club, got 2nd place at the districts competition and 2nd place at States for marketing buying and merchandising team decision event. About to head to nationals but it’s too late :frowning:

Key club and peer mediation PALS, both are pretty generic volunteer activities except peer mediation has more of a leadership role in the school community, I had like 150 hours total when i applied

involved in a ton of other basic clubs like model un and JSA and ethics bowl and investment club etc. but I didn’t mention those in the application

Summer activities: Hospital volunteering, only had like 30 some hours. Attended a summer program for economics and leadership. Also was a tutor at kumon

My ECs aren’t amazing and evidently weren’t enough for acceptance to LBW. My main essay was about my mom and how I gained important values like responsibility, appreciation and hard work from the relationship. Kinda complicated and cliche, went like 100 words over the limit oops Hahahah. Other essay was easy but generic, I just said how I live near penn and love it and I centered the essay on an anectode of me visiting penn.

Congrats to everyone who got in! Did anyone apply for financial aid and got accepted + granted aid? Just curious

My fellow waitlistees, what are y’alls stats? Interested in hearing from everyone!

Congrats everyone! @yaoqian Can you please add me too? Thanks :slight_smile:

I was just accepted but will probably not be attending. I had a friend who did it last year who didn’t have the best experience and said it wasn’t worth the money. Just wanted to let you guys now

I just got my acceptance as well! @yanqian could you pm bc I don’t know how haha

@harveymudd20 if you don’t mind sharing, what did your friend not like about the program? have only heard positive things so far…

I was accepted too @yaoqian do you mind adding me?

@danaschoolsky @yaoqian @rocky2308 @ZlatanLion @Areslol1 @Pratikshah Did any of you apply for financial aid?

@harveymudd20 huh that’s interesting. Since you got in however, I personally think you should try your hardest to go. Most people have a life changing experience! :slight_smile:
