Would any of you suggest buying an LCD TV to save room, i mean you can get these things for a decent price these days, and for a college dorm room it could save alot of room, plus itd be really easy to move in and out. I was looking at a 20' dell for like $480

I have an LCD at home and i really like it and it saves a lot of space. If you follow the ads to places like staples, best buy, office depot, buy.com, amazon or costco you can get one for a good price.

If you can afford it, I don't see why you wouldn't buy it.

I'd spend the cash on a nice large LCD computer monitor and a tuner card. Then, stick your desk across from the couch (if you've got a couch) and you can watch movies/TV/etc. on it.

If you get a flat-screen TV, your room's going to be the place where everyone wants to hang out and watch movies all the time, which isn't terribly conducive to getting work done.

anyone know of what a good 20' is priced at? or anyone suggest any certain brands? or which brands to stay away from?

Well, I just bought a Viewsonic 20", it's a cheaper model because the resolution on it is only 800x600. But, I'm not going to use it as a computer monitor so it suits me fine. It's not that big, and the picture is pretty good especially with DVDs. I bought mine a buy.com. You can google a free shipping coupon and make it a flat 369.99 after rebate. :)

Those LCD TVs are so nice. I hope my roommate (who I don't even know yet!) will have one of those, because my parents are certainly not letting me bring any TV! :(

Are these LCD's ready to just plug cable into it, or do you have to buy an input adapter or anything?

I second getting a monitor and a tuner card...

rel05baller, make sure what you buy is specifically an LCD TV, not an LCD monitor. If it's a TV, then it should be ready for hook up instantly. A monitor, however, is meant for a computer, so beware.

Also, if the TV is HDTV-ready, then you should have no problems watching HD instantly. However, if the TV is not HDTV-ready, then you probably will have to buy an HDTV tuner box if you want to watch HD.

Anyone else know of any slick deals for LCD TV's, or which brands to stay away from; ive also heard that if the refresh rate isnt fast enough that the LCD TV's become really blurry, which rate would you suggest?
