cool. thanks for the 411

to all LEAD alumni, what do you think is weighted the most -- gpa/rank, psat/sat/act scores, teacher & personal recs, or essays??

Personally think- Esssays and Ec's are number one, then GPA and courseload, then test scores, then recs

I got into Lead Wharton with a 119 MV PSAT or a 177 overall ...def had to be my ec's and essays that got me in

my gpa/scores are pretty average but i think that if you show passion throughout you essays and through your ec's (like what tubbz said) then you should be fine. i remember last year looking at other peoples stats who didn't get in and mine were way worse and i got into my first choice.
Oh and i think at least 3 kids from my LEAD(gtown) got into penn early but i haven't seen anyone get into stanford.

and about what the gtown lead did: we went to NYC for a day but i think for this coming year they will stay longer (at least thats what we discussed last summer)- wallst/NYSE/goldman sachs/BET/all the monuments/state department/FDIC/NASA/a theme park
and thats all i can think of right now!
xox

I submited my application online today!
Preferences:
1. Stanford
2. UPenn
3. Georgetown
4. Duke
5. Northwestern

congrats madicent7!
sleeping on Illinois tho

anyone know differences b/w different schools

obviously penn is number 1, but after that what is the best school u can go to for the program

also, does doing the LEAD program at a certain school help with admissions at that school (except interest and a better essay) ...i.e. would uva rather a lead participant who went to uva or stanford or penn or dartmouth

thanks

anyone know the DATES???

im
thinking of going to the illinois one
what do u guys think
anyone went there?!?!?!?

Illinois is top notch
I went from July 8th - July 27th last year

Lol. From what I know (in my ridiculous alumni network that i chat to on AIM)

UPENN

Virginia

Duke

Stanford

Those run the best SBIs by far, unquestionably. Debatable whether you could put in Illinois in that group. THey started off strong their first year but since then haven't given as high-octane tasks to recent LEADers.

Just know that different schools specialize in different areas (Dartmouth-stocks, Virginia-marketing)

Dates?

Isn't February 1 the deadline?

I see that some people who go to the Wharton SBI took Calculus, do you think they will put the same emphasis on someone who did not take calc but did take AP Microeconomics?

Are you sure about those dates? Where did you get them from?

I got them from the president.
those are the actual ones.....

Thanks!

I pray everybody applying is having success in getting their apps in on time without any great difficulties

I just found about this program and I think I'm going to apply.

For the personal recommendation, it says "an employer, coach, community official or minister." Will it be ok if it's from a family member (my dad), since I don't know any other except for my piano teacher.

piano teacher would be better than dad

Alright, after receiving upwards of 13 requests
for help in LEAD Applications, i am just reminding
everyone that the last day to contact me for help
is this [colore=red]Wednesday.[/color]

That means...I want to see both of your essays on
some sort of "draft" and I want to see what you
have listed on your application to "refine" it.

DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. I have TOO MANY stories
of fellow friends who procrastinated last year on LEAD
applications and WHO DID NOT get in with GREAT stats.

i've submitted my online application and my application materials are in the mail!

this thread has been very informative. thank you, post-ers!
