Hello fellow CCers.

I was sent letters from LEAD and the Harvard Summer program, and I'm thinking about attending it.

Does it help at all on the college apps?
I mean, if I were able to talk to the admissions counselors at Harvard (as a rising senior), wouldn't it boost my chances, to some degree?
Or would attending LEAD (which someone told me is better than Harvard, since it's more than just a paycheck) look better?

I realize that it's also about the experience, which Harvard seems like it would be better (who doesn't wanna see Harvard?).
But would LEAD have a good of an experience as Harvard?

Finally, the big question is:
Are any of these two summer programs worth the $4000+?

LEAD is more business related while Harvard is just a summer school program. LEAD is also for URM while Harvard is for everyone. Basically, it will look good if you did either of them (in terms of doing something this summer) but they wont help you get into schools b/c of it. it may help you write essays about the school later, but harvard or wherever you go to LEAD.

also LEAD app is due on the first and its nowhere near 4,000 (only about 1,000, maybe a little more...maybe this is better b/c its not a paycheck)

I think LEAD looks better

i went to harvard's ssp this past summer and enjoyed it immensely. Not only is it a good way to get used to college classes, but you meet people from many different countries. In the class I took alone we had students from India, France, Spain, Italy, Japan, as well as all over the US. Dunno if that helps though. Harvard does offer Fin Aid if you apply early enough
