Anyone know anything about the leadership app? Is it actually only sent to certain students or is this just another ploy to get people to apply? And are the odds of getting scholarship money higher through the leadership app?

There is info about this from last year when we were looking at the application process. It may be a little of both but I feel it did help my daughter. Check to see if you can find the thread from last year to see what everybody else said.

I feel that Allegheny sends this to who they perceive are strong applicants, who would succeed & flourish. The school wants them to seriously consider Allegheny given that they would likely be admitted to many other fine schools. Though I can’t prove this I get the impression that those who submit their Leadership Applications soonest receive the highest scholarship awards. Go for it !!!

Thanks for the replies! The email was my sister, I’ve told her she really needs to take the app seriously now. Lets hope for some merit aid!

Anyone willing to share their stats? My sister would love to know where she stands in relation to what people have gotten in previous years.

4th in a class of 250, 5 “5”'s on AP and one 2 (physics), not that strong SAT’s, can’t remember exactly but just under 2000, I think 1990 (I realize these are pretty good but not when you are also applying to Swarthmore, also just not what we expected in light of her all around academic performance). No athletics but a fair amount of extracurricular activities, including at least 1 leadership role. She got the Trustees Scholarship and really, it was this money that allowed her to choose Allegheny.
