Leadership Award Overnight Stay Program Email?!

Since the admissions and alum association are two completely different departments, this mail may be an unofficial way of saying that you are a Leadership Award semifinalist (but with the disclaimer since the alum committee probably doesn’t know if you have been admitted yet)

@aks2014 that seems quite possible… Let’s hope for the best!

Hi I got the leadership email as well! Quick question though did anyone get an email for the other scholarship for Berkeley? It was the achievement scholarship. I personally didnt get one but I know a few people that got both soo im not quite sure. @jackson61

@purple4 Hey! I looked that one up a few days ago, and I think it has to do with income bracket… at least, that’s what it says on here: <a href=“Scholarships - Cal Alumni Association”>http://alumni.berkeley.edu/community/scholarships/achievement-award-program

@gman333 I messaged @ucbalumnus - let’s see what he says! :)

For the students that got the Regents’ invite but did not get the Leadership overnight invite, @aks2014 @gman333 @evidentlyme that’s probably because you already got an invite to the Regents’ overnight.

I got the leadership email but didn’t apply. did this hurt my chances to get in? gahhh the angst!!

My S got the leadership invite and applied, but didn’t get the overnight email. Hope that’s not a bad sign re admission.

lets keep our fingers crossed :)

@mockingjay0714 :-SS ← my expression from now until next Thursday :stuck_out_tongue: And nahh, I don’t think it’ll have hurt your chances - I know a LOT of people who didn’t apply for the Leadership Award program, either…

Sorry i should have been more clear i did get an invitation to both scholarships … but you know how for the leadership we got the overnight stay invitation for being an applicant … is there something we should get for being an applicant for the achievement scholarship as well ? @jackson61 … and it seems like from this thread that this email is a good sign ? because some people have not gotten them ! But I"m still confused

It’s definitely an indication but I doubt it’s a definite indication.

As to internationals I didn’t get it either…It’s practically pointless to send sleepover invitations to us since we are all probably half a globe away, so not doing it makes sense. But then I received sleepover offer from CMU and numerous campus visit offer from UCI even though I can’t possibly go. So who knows.

I am also guessing that whether or not we get scholarship invitations according to our stats and that scholarship page we completed during application…

@Keepyourshirton what do you mean by that last bit in your post ^?

@ everyone else It doesn’t make sense to me why the alumni association would send these out if they know decisions aren’t set in stone. Like, why put the effort into sending these emails (though perhaps all the work they’d have to do is click a button) and put the office in a state of potential frenzy (I’m over exaggerating, haha) with phone calls/questions/nervous applicants? It’s too much added, unnecessary work.

plus isn’t it just so cruel for them to send these nice emails out, giving all of us hope and then stating that it has no impact on our decision? I really want to believe this is a sign but I have to keep telling myself I could be rejected so I don’t hope for an acceptance that most likely won’t happen.

"You are receiving this email because we thought you might be interested in this opportunity. "

sigh

@purple4 Didn’t get the initial achievement email, so I have no idea about that. And yeah, it seems like it miiiiight just be a good sign… I’m happy, because my unweighted GPA isn’t a 4.0, so it could be a sign of more holistic admissions!

…Don’t wanna place any bets, though. :-SS

@alwayswonderines If I get rejected… I don’t care that it isn’t the Ides of March, I reserve the right to drop to my knees like I got stabbed 23 times and cry “Et tu, Berkeley?”

Hey @jackson61 SAME HERE about not having a 4.0 GPA … we are on the same page i feel that for me everything else is strong so i’m really hoping this is a good sign and that the holistic view helps in admittance.

@alwayswonderines
I remember filling out a form with lots of tick boxes about qualification for scholarship opportunities near the end of my UCB application ( ancestry, leadership,etc) . I think they are also referring to this form aside from your stats in determining to whom should they send emails.

@purple4 Same!! Let’s hope we get in!! :-S

@Keepyourshirton Yeah I remember that too… they had literally EVERY scholarship on the planet, and then some…
