Same kinda stuff as lead but LBW is only at Penn

I am also really interested in applying to this program. Does anyone know if we are allowed to scan our letters of rec, transcripts, etc. and email it to them, or do we have to mail it? Also, what are some backup programs people are signing up for that are like this one? Finally, at the beginning of this thread someone noted that this does not look very good on the transcript because it is not for credits, so do colleges look favorably upon this at all?
Thank you.

what kind of SAT do we need to have a shot at this program. does anybody from previous years know?

I have no idea if you are allowed to scan and email instead of snailmailing. Email the question to the question address listed on the site. Personally, I'm applying to a program at Gtown that is very similar. I'm sure some ppl also may have applied to LEAD, operation enterprise, or the BoA leaders program. Colleges will look at a non-credit MORE favorably than for credit because it shows you actually care about the subject your program dealt with. It says on the site "LBW doesn't guarentee admission to Penn", but I'm sure applying to Wharton (which I assume most ppl applying to LBW will) would be made easier if the adcoms see you got into a competitive summer program, about biz, at Penn

Someone from last year told me that a bunch of ppl from last year had 2300+ SAT and were top few in their classes, but their were many ppl who had somewhat lower scores but did other interesting things that probably got them admitted.
I don't think there's a range anyone could look up or find. If you're considerably lower than everyone else it will of course hurt you, but it doesn't seem like a good SAT could get you in by itself. I'd say most ppl are 2000s range, likely 2100+. If in that range, it probably comes down to leadership, essays, etc

I finished my essay today...and recs are (hopefully) being written as we speak while the teachers have some free time over Feb. vacation

I got my 1/24 SAT score and HS transcript including first half of junior year squared away...so im probably looking at submitting in 2 weeks...

whata bout everyone else?

yeah my app will be sent by this coming up weekend hopefully

I've sent in everything, just need to finish my essay. Does anyone know how this app will be sent, since it's online and we can constantly update it. Will they just lock it down on the due date and then use whatever is on there at the time?

i heard that might be true, but I couldn't; so I would try to do it thoroughly the first time. And this is important, if I take the SATS march 14, how do I have college board send them to LBW? I tried looking under the place options, but only UPenn was there, not this specific program, and there was no place to put an actual address.

The FAQs on the site say juliankrinsky camps will send you confirmation once all your materials have been recieved.

I emailed a question about SAT submission to the ?email yesterday; I'll post the answer once I get it

alright, thanks

Answer to SAT question:

There is nothing you can select on the SAT registration to have an official score report sent to LBW admissions

They would prefer some type of official report included with your transcript(paper copy of the snailmailed official student score report, something from your school) but if it just listed as a number on your transcript it works

-for march scores, she said

"simply have your scores rushed and mail us a copy of the score report"

thank you so much, hope we both get in!

I'm considering taking the LBW program this summer but I'm afraid it's gonna be all school work and not a lot of social activities.

Does anyone know what we do at night and on weekends?

I'm interested in business but I wanna make sure I have fun over the summer too.

I'm confused about the March SAT scores, do they want them to rush the scores to yourself?
How is that possible? I don't think that's an option on Collegeboard.

I know that they have nothing scheduled on weekends, so I would think that you could do what you want. But, I'm not 100% sure.

And I think he meant that whenever you get the scores, rush them to LBW

Quick question, I know this might sound ridiculous, but for the essay, can it be a sort of narrative (since we are describing a situation)?

It's just that my school doesn't offer much creativity when it comes to writing, so when they say essay, they mean thesis, and 5 paragraphs. I do not want to write a situation in that way; it wouldn't make sense.

I'm pretty sure that what I'm writing is fine, I just want to make sure.

Hey wow I had no idea LBW was this competetive... I have a 3.8 UW and all I sent in were my PSATS which were only like 1880... I have good recs and Essay but I think I wrote the essay on the wrong topic! I couldn't find on my application what we were supposed to write about so I just wrote about why I wanted to attend the program, not a specific event where I demonstrated leadership! Ah I hope that's not used so much against me.... But really before looking at this I had NO idea that it was really competetive. I also have lots of EC and pres/VP roles in clubs in school.... what do you guys think of my chances??? I can't believe people on here are saying "oh 2100 is that SAT score too low?" Haha I really had noooo idea it was this crazyyy.

Hey guys,

I did LBW summer of 2008 and it would be an understatement to call it awesome. You guys should definitely all apply because I guarantee you it will be the best summer of your life.

I'll be checking this thread occasionally over the next couple of days so if ya'll have any questions, I'll try to answer. Just by scanning through the previous posts...

if you have any questions about the application materials, email leadership@wharton.upenn.edu

on weekends, you'll take trips to New York, D.C., or just chill in Philly. There's plenty of time for sight-seeing and you'll get to visit various companies in these cities such as American Express. You'll get to meet a lot of CEO's and famous people in the business world.

your peers at lbw is what makes it an awesome experience. during my stay, i met people from belgium, singapore, brazil, london, shanghai, pakistan, and all over the US. if you go, you will learn something interesting from each and every person there. i still keep in touch with a bunch of people. also, i made a ton of connections with the children of wealthy people :)

that's all i have for now, but if you have a specific question, just post.

hope ya'll apply!

wait the essay isnt realyl even an essay right? Its just like 300 words? are we supposed to go over by a lot?

collegefreak, most college essays are only about 500 words anyway. be concise. you'll be safe up to about 350 words. any higher is pushing it.
