Leadership in the Business World "LBW" Summer 2014

woohoo!! i got accepted to philly!! look forward to meeting yall there :)

how many of you wait listed people actually remained on the wait list? the chances are so small, so I transffered my applicatoin to a different summer program. how about u guys?

Hey guys,

I transferred my application and got into the Wharton Sports Business Academy. I’m excited for the opportunity!

Did anyone else transfer and get in?

Also, although I am eager just to learn this summer at Wharton, I was wondering if anyone has heard about the ratio of students that are admitted to Wharton for college in this program versus LBW. I haven’t heard the best things about that from earlier posts about the program on College Confidential, but then again it is a much newer program than LBW and the applicant pool probably changes every year. With that said, do any alumni or new applicants have any thoughts on that?

Like probably all of you, I am one of those students that dreams of going to UPenn, and I really want to optimize my shot at getting in! I’m really feeling a sense of community on this website, and I appreciate everyone’s commentary. :x

@TooSchool4Cool‌ There isn’t a direct correlation between getting into LBW and Wharton for college. It’s more what you do with what you’re given after you attend. If you are really passionate about sports business and Wharton offers a great program for that in college, you might be able to credit your newfound passion to Wharton’s summer program. I really don’t think one summer program optimizes your chances of getting into a certain college just because you attended their program.

@TooSchool4Cool Anything productive you do in summer will help you get into great universities, such as UPenn. However, attending one of their programs will in no way help you gain admission to the college, other than showing you were productive. Don’t attend a summer program because it is related to a school you want to go to; rather do whichever program will help you the most (most selective, community service, related to your area of interest).

Just got into San Fran from the waitlist!!!

Ecstatic right now.

Hi Guys!

I am accepted into Philadelphia this summer and really congratulate all guys who have been admitted!

I am from Beijing, so I am searching for others who may set out from Beijing! I am booking tickets now… It’s already so expensive now:(

Really looking forward to see all of you guys!!!

Sigh had to reject my offer T.T Congrats to those who got in and off the waitlist!

Hey everyone! I went to LBW in Philadelphia a few years ago- if anyone has any questions about LBW (packing, what to expect, the schedule, etc.), let me know!

@vivaciousgopher how much free time do you get in general?

You get more and more free time as the weeks progress. In the beginning it seems like you don’t have that much free time, but then you’ll get more later on (in part to work on your business plan more but your curfew also gets pushed back and you just get more time in general). You’ll have a few hours throughout the day (around 4-5 if I remember correctly) and then time after dinner until a certain curfew. We had meetings every night around 9 during which the head RTAs would talk about the day and give us our curfew for the day partially based on our behavior.

That’s for during the week- on weekends, you have a lot more free time. You’ll have free time after you visit certain sites; the sites are typically in other cities such as NYC or DC so you can hang out with your friends in those cities. If I remember correctly, the majority of Sunday is free time.

Hi, I’m a junior currently. I’m eager to study at Wharton, so i plan to apply for LBW. i just figured that would be super helpful if i could get some info from those who went to LBW earlier. i would love to know anything about LBW, like what did you mainly study in the program? more theoretically or pragmatically? well, i assume you did both lol. appreciate your help.

Hi, Im a junior international student from Canada. I haven’t taken my SAT yet but I am planning to do my first SAT I test in March. I am very interested in going to LBW for the summer. Is there any chance that I can still get in without my SAT scores?

Yes! I got in and attended without submitting any scores.

Hi! I got in this year and I expect to attend! I have so many questions!!! what should I pack? What is a normal day like? Can I choose my roommate?

This program is so expensive, how many of you are expecting scholarships?

Hello there,

I know this thread was for the 2014 applications for Wharton’s LBW; however, I’m applying for LBW 2016. I was wondering what previous applicants had to say about the program. What are the kind of things you put into your application essay(s) and what would you say is essential for prospective applicants to convey through their application essay(s)?

Any information that is not explicitly asked for is always extremely appreciated.

Thank you

@Suj170499 I went to LBW in 2015. I would be happy to answer any of your specific questions through PM.

Does LBW enhance your college app? And how’s the financial aid? >$7500 is CRAZY for a summer program

Hey @Dilan412 can you tell me how I can PM you? I’m sorry I’m quite new to this website.
