Saturday we'd go on day trips. I think we went to NYC, Hershey Park, Washington DC, and Ocean City, this past summer.
Sunday you have the option of doing tennis or golf lessons, but you don't have to. I went to tennis like 2 times, but a lot people took the time to sleep in, do laundy, or go downtown. There's also a bunch of stuff that randomly comes up. We had stuff like concerts or movies or baseball games that weren't really officially planned on the calendar.

so ive read about it and it seems like i should apply earlier rather than later... i guess that would be when the apps came out in december. what did everyone write their essays on last year?

i wrote my essay on a certain project i organized for school government. looking back the essay wasn't great but just do something that shows your a leader. Anything, even if it seems trivial will suffice. And definitely do the program it was awesome.

PS shoutout to my 06 LBWers

i wrote about organizing my school's model un conference, as peabody59 (oh who is he :P) says, just write something that's enough to show that you've done something that has some leadership.
definitely apply & it's the best summer experience i got, and most of my fellow LBWers think the same!
the SAT scores shouldn't be of any concern for you especially if you're an international. i got in with HORRIBLE stats that i don't want to post here, what only matters is the activities that you do.
i'd be more than happy to give any further details you wish to learn via email or aim. just message me.
lbw 2006 is hot!

Hey, everybody. LBW '07 (and Wharton '12) hopeful here. I haven't had too good of a history with apps this year (rejected from NJ Govschool and... get ready for this... NHS =O), so I'd be happy to take any advice that any former LBWers have. I've got good grades, a few ECs I'm really committed to, and pretty good test scores.

Also, please tell me that you don't really have to pay $20 a day for the gym...

I didnt really go to the gym so I cant answer that!!!
IDK what tou tell you but just one piece of advice:

Do not apply to LBW as a way to increase your chances to get into Wharton. This year I think that most of LBWers got deferred ED, including myself. The People are great, classes are awesome... the programs's perfect, but you kind of get the idea that after LBW your chancer are waaayy higher. So if you have other plans for the summer consider them too cause LBW wont help. However... LBW was the best summer of my life!

Oh and if you get apply and get into LBW say hi to Trang... she's awesome!! shellb e your head RTA

If you want to increase your chances of getting into Penn, apply to the LEAD program. Out of 30 of us like 9 applied ED and 7 were accepted. I'm sure many more will get in RD.

http://www.leadnational.org/index.html

do you have to be a minority to participate in LEAD?

Yeah, basically you can't be caucasian. You don't have to be a urm though, over represented minorities are welcome.

Do you think attending LBW may actually decrease your chances of getting into Wharton?

hey, im another lbw 07 hopeful. i was wondering what the "short essay" is that we have to send to them... is it the same one that we had to submit online about "discuss a time when u showed effective leadership"

also, to lbw alum, what would you say is most important on the application if u want to get into lbw? extra currics? grades? sat scores? essay?

THANK YOU

ps please respond fast cuz im desperate to send my stuff in cuz its rolling admissions and what not and i cant do it if i dont know if the essay is the same/diff

lemonpop- yes there is only 1 essay and it is the short essay on when you showed effective leadership

The most important thing, in my opinion, is the essay. Many people last year had average SAT scores but got in with sweet essay's. They aren't necessarily looking for people with perfect scores rather than people who show good leadership and show their passion for business and want to become a better leader. I know a few ppl w/ 2400's that didn't get in andI'm guessing their essay wasn't as good as others.

For LEAD, if you are indian girl, which is definately not an underrepresented minority, can you still apply?

yes you can. The program is for all minorities, whether underrepresented or not.

thanks!
btw, has anyone here heard of the Julian Krinsky program at upenn? If you have, do you know anything about it? prestige wise, and quality wise

Julian Krinsky is the company that manages the applications for LBW. I don't now if they actually run any programs at Penn.

well, I found this online:
http://www.jkcp.com/internships/

the summer business internship looks really interesting, and it sounds amazing, but im not sure if, in reality, it's a good program or not. I was hoping maybe someone who's gone there in the past or knows more information about it could clue me in.

Well it seems like I'm the only person who has been to the Julian Krinsky Internship Program. This is from a previous post of mine:

"I went the Julian Krinsky Internship program at UPenn last summer. It was probably the best decision I have ever made. I applied specifically for an internship in Investment banking and ended up at Navigant Capital Advisors working with some of the coolest guys ever. My bosses were awesome. Some of my other friends who applied to the business internship went to Goldman Sachs, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Deutsche bank among many other firms. The people you meet there come from all around the world, although it seems like half come from New York. Your weekends are really fun, where on saturdays you usually go on trips, and on sundays you are free to explore the city with friends as long as you are back in your dorms by curfew (either 11pm or 12am) and are allowed to stay up as long as you want, although on weekdays you are usually wiped out by then anyways. It was definately worth every penny."

Feel free to ask if you have any more questions

Also I'm planning to apply to LBW within the next week and was wondering if anyone else is/has applied. For those who have went before, how long does it usually take to get a reply, and in your opinion how was your experience there?

hey scorpion, i went to lbw last year. i actually found out about the program after the deadline and sent my app in right away. i dont exactly remember when i found out i got in, but the month at penn was definitely one of the best months of my life. and now im going to wharton next year! i highly recommend it.
