I’m unsure about whether or not on I want to take Journalism as a class next year. First of all, this year is my first year taking Journalism, which is a class, but also kind of a club. Students in the club run the school newspaper. It’s been fine, probably not interesting enough for me to want to take it again next year though, except for the fact that if I do take it again next year I would almost defiantly be an assistant editor. Since I don’t have any leadership positions, I think this would definitely boost my college apps. The problem is I don’t really care about the class or want to be assistant editor for anything other than to put it on college apps. My schedule next year is already very packed, so is it worth it to take a class that I honestly don’t have much interest in for the possible boost to my applications?
hi !! fellow student here and i’ll be taking journalism too next year. honestly, i don’t think you should take it just for the leadership position. it kinda depends on your major + career but if you’re just doing journalism just for the position, it wouldn’t be as impactful. colleges want to see passion for an extracurricular. maybe if you decide to continue to find passion that might not have been there before, that would be ok. but if you feel you won’t feel any passion / interest for it, probably best not to take it. find another ec that you are passionate about, and work your way up. it’s definitely not too late.
