Leadership Positions

So my school has started scheduling for next year and that got me thinking about possible leadership positions for my senior year (I'm a junior now!). So far I really only have one leadership position and that's being the vice president of the drama club. My question: would a college prefer to see a student commit to a club and go from vice president to president or would it be better to become the president of a more elite club of the same nature? The second club in my case would be the International Thespian Society (an honor society for actors. My school has stricter requirements to get admitted than others, if that makes any difference). I would try to run for both positions, but my teachers don't allow you to do that if you're already an officer of one.

Thanks! :)

As far as extracurriculars go, colleges want to see dedication. This means sticking with an activity and climbing up the ranks. It is much more impressive to be a member of Club A for four years, moving up from regular member to vice-president to president, than to join club B in your final year just for the prestige of club B.
