leadership positions

I want to know how important it is to have more than one leadership position in your application. I'm already the President of a political organization at my school, but is that enough? I was thinking about running for Student council president or 12th grade president, but is it essential? I dont know if its worth the time it will take to do....

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Yes, being student council president looks good on your application.

No, you shouldn’t run if that’s the real reason you want the position.

Lots of class Presidents apply. It will show a sort of leadership but it won’t really make you stand out.

what about being the president of clubs like the national honor society or mu alpha theta in the school? would that look impressive?

^from what it looks like, honor societies like those count for much. They certainly won’t get you in, but can’t hurt, either.

From what I’ve seen (my friends and I, who are at Yale and harvard), I’ve aren’t hat we have at least one national award or a talent that allowed us to win awards outside school. You can be a president of a school club, but you have to have a significant existence and presence on campus. Remember, you’re competing with so many people who are also presidents of other clubs, so you have to stand out to get in

you guys misunderstand, the main main reason i would run is to help my school. im not like that. i was just curious about how it looks on the application. thanks for the input.
