So I’ve noticed there are several leadership programs at Boston College that are available for freshman (Jenks and the Emerging Leader Program). I was wondering if any current students could give any insight on the programs. Are they worth the time? Does one program stand out above the other?

I have the same questions. Agreeing to attending a meeting one weeknight every week for a couple of hours, plus (apparently) mandatory commitments to helping out with various programs – volunteer, etc – seems like a significant time-commitment to make without already being on-campus and knowing what to expect from a workload standpoint.

Also, regarding the leadership programs in general: Having been a part of a couple of other leadership programs in my high school career, I wonder does it ever become a problem to put 50 “leaders” in a room where none of them are really into “following”. I have had experience where everybody wants to be the chief and nothing gets done except for posturing. Again, current or former Emerging Leader Program members I’d love to hear from.
