Leadership

1) What are some leadership roles that one can take on? I don't have any leadership right now because I have classes every lunch which makes founding a club pretty much impossible, and I can't think of any other leadership activities. :S

2) How important is leadership in admission process?

Thanks =)

VERY...if you can't found a club, then why don't you join one and run for an officer position. Do you volunteer? Why don't you lead a can collection drive at your school to send out to the Katrina Victims.

No matter how cool you are, you're still just a rookie. Quality leadership positions will come once you near the end of high school, and have shown your commitment to the club/activity for a while.

well its just that our school only has like 5~6 clubs, most of which are dead =(

Revive them, if you have to! Leadership is fairly important in admissions, not just to show leadership qualities but also to judge your dedication to what you like to do. However, the fact that you had limited options for club participation will be taken into consideration when you apply to college.

Clubs, school sports team, church activities, scouting, volunteer organizations, band, dance, debate, academic teams/competitions, etc ... from the limited information provided it looks like first thing needed are ECs and then the leadership positions will follow

I reckon leadership is one of the most important.. along the bases of hs transcript.. and in prestigious colleges, probably more important than A's because most students will have them anyway.
Leadership shows initiative, dedication, passion and social skills. If you take a leadership role, they know you are not one of the sheep that just follow instrucutions. They know that YOU are the instructor and i think adcoms like that alot.

Reviving a club would be an excellent example of leadership.The top colleges don't view leadership as simply holding a title, but they measure leadership by results.

Also, if you work hard and bring a club back to life, more than likely you'd end up being elected a top officer, plus could get an excellent recommendation from the advisor.
