learn roommate tomorrow

Xcellerator, if you hung on to your dorm spot just to see if you could get a good dorm, knowing that you weren’t going to A&M, then I’m glad you are headed to UT! There are freshmen out there waiting on a dorm space that are finding out they don’t have one because of you and others like you! Definitely not the Aggie spirit! You say someone lucky will get your spot, but it’s a whole domino effect; others that deserved your “good” room got something they didn’t want, and so on down the line.

what about classes xcellerator, have you registered for fall classes you are not going to attend?

aggiemom2011 - I did not know I was going to be accepted to UT until June 17th, which was two weeks ago. I had to keep my housing at A&M in case I didn’t get in. -_- What was I suppose to do if I didn’t get into UT? I wouldn’t get my deposit back b/c it was too late already. What would you have done? Aggie spirit? Please. I like to have fallback options open in case my plans don’t work out.

klparker312 - Classes would be the same though I registered back in April. A&M will drop those if I haven’t paid the tuition/fees by the deadline anyways.

you had no choice but to keep the dorm assignment. Did not know you were very late in getting accepted to tu.

Sorry, but you are the one who said that you hadn’t cancelled, and just wanted to see if you got a good dorm. It’s too late now, but as of June 17th, I’m sure housing would love to have known you weren’t going to be using your spot. As for your classes, there are plenty of kids who haven’t registered yet that would probably like your class spots as well…particularly transfers looking for sophomore level courses.

klparker312 - Yes, I had to also make sure that I could find housing/an apartment in Austin before I could absolutely make sure I could cancel at A&M. This goes for the enrollment deposit and orientation fee at UT as well. I just signed a lease yesterday July 2nd, so I’ll be canceling everything at A&M soon. Losing the $300 deposit as well.

aggiemom2011 - See above. And I was just only joking about getting a good dorm. I’m losing my $300 deposit…what choice do I really have if I can’t get housing/an apartment at UT? Seriously, w t f. I would have stayed at A&M if I didn’t get accepted to UT.

Hey Xcellerator… are you business?? If so… dnt drop ur classes until August 20th so i can get them…lol cuz i know by the time I make it to my orientation its gonna be hard trying to find classes

And no, I wasn’t in business sorry. I was in College of science, Biology major. Most/All of my classes still have spaces open as of yesterday when I looked on Howdy.

Is Eppright a good dorm?

UGH! like all of the classes I need well for business… all full or in the negatives already… and I dnt register until mid next month… I going to have to beg professors to let me in :(

My D’s advisor told them at her NSC that in many classes they don’t open the whole section up at once. This causes the students to be better spread out among the classes. Then as summer goes on they open them up a little more each time. Maybe that is what is happenning in your classes. You might get there and find that there are still openings for you. We actually ended up having much of the first afternoon to figure out a schedule and it paid off. She got registered in 53 secs! Many of her first choices only had a couple of seats, but she was fast on that keyboard and got them all. Good luck!

are there people out there still with just a housing assignment, and no roommate?

you will not be able to learn your roommate until they turn in their shot records!

So I got the roommate I wanted, but definitely not the dorm. Not even close. I applied for all northside dorms, but I got one on southside.
On the website it says you can send in a hall change request on the first day of class. We might have to do this.

Got a roommate assignment… but havent been able to get in touch. He has an extremely common name on facebook and I sent an email days ago… I’m worried :/

sirmarksalot, my son also requested all North side and got South. I guess everyone wanted North side.

StAuggy, I was told you can check the “roommate-finder” and see if your roommate signed up. I think it lets you send a message that goes to his email.

super lame. i won’t know mine until next friday at the earliest. and i hate shots too :frowning: dumb needles

Did they send you another email with your roommate name?

I emailed a&m, and they said finding two empty spaces is tough. Which means we might have to stay on Southside. Being on Northside, besides rooming together, was our second priority. Oh well, I guess this is what being a freshman is about.

Northside was the easiest to get a dorm in last year. You guys should have applied for Walton if you/your son were male. Most hate this dorm, and it was the easiest to get into. All the late male housing applicants last year got that dorm, which kind of sucked. :frowning: Guess the opposite happened this year.
