Learning Communities?

I am thinking about choosing to stay in a learning community. The biggest drawback is that I have heard most of them take place in maya or olmeca. I want to be apart of the pre-law community. Do you guys have any opinions on the learning communities? Benefits? Disadvantages? Anything is helpful.

Living/learning communities are great ways to make a large university smaller. It provides a built-in community with people that have common interests.

I don’t know the specifics of the communities at SDSU, but learning communities in general provide overwhelmingly positive experiences.

I was in a learning community my freshman year. It was in maya but the community and group of people that you become friends with really mad my first year better. I think they are beneficial because you get to meet people with similar interests and majors. Also, maya will not be open next year due to renovations only olmeca. You can find out more on the sdsu housing website. Alot of the learning communities will be in Zura or Cuic

Is Maya the old brick building on the right as you cross the bridge? If so they said they would fill up half of it while remodeling half then after break everyone will move to remodeled part while they so the other half.

@Bean981: The first brick dorm building is Olmeca. Maya is behind Olmeca.

Do you want to be in a building that is being remodeled? The noise in the early am is loud! The construction detours can become a hassle.
