Learning Differences

Does anyone have experience with the learning differences office and how helpful they were? Also, wondering how the prefessors react when you tell them you are part of the program. Almost wondering if it would be better to tough it out for fear of less than stellar recommendations etc.

i'm not sure if this is the same thing or not, but i registered with the disabilities office and the process was fairly simple/straightforward. they granted me all the accomodations i asked for. i didn't ask for anything too major though.

I know a USC student who was diagnosed with an LD, at the school's expense, during his sophomore year. They have been very supportive, as have his professors. Good Luck.

I met with Dr. Ed Roth who runs the Disabilities Office. He was very nice and easy to talk to. He spoke with all of us--hubby, me & our S (the student) and went over how the school, his department & their office in particular can support any needs S has related to his chronic health issues. They were very supportive and nice about it. Dr. Roth had practical suggestions and could talk generally about experiences other students have had at USC, with similar conditions. We all found it very reassuring (tho he hasn't needed any accommodations this year, it was good to know they will work with S if the need arises).
