Hi everyone, I'm a student at a community college and I'm am planning to transfer to the UC system or private schools for fall 08. I have a good story on how I overcame my learning disabilities and became an academic superstar. Is this a good idea? Btw, this experience took place in HS.

bump.. (10 charc)

This is an important question that keeps coming up in various forms. Unfortunately, nobody seems to know the answer. I think it might be useful to post this on a broader forum at least in part in the hope that one of the college admissions officers on CC will see it and weigh in. Also, on the parents' board, you might find people who could share their children's experiences from past years.

I think you should consider using it if the essay is well written. After all, if you overcame LD's to become an academic superstar, then that is likely to be a huge accomplishment for you. Just say how this hs school experience motivated you to excel at the CC and your success at the CC motivates you to excel at the UC. Some schools might be iffy, but the UC's do not discriminate against high achieving students with LD's. Good luck.
