Learning Matlab or Simulink on the cheap?

Hi CCers!
After years raising kids full time for many years, I'm trying to dust off the old resume and get back to work as a satellite systems engineer. I didn't do any modelling before but want to be a bit more, ahem, marketable (if that's even possible). I have extensive experience in hardware, test, IVV, IOT etc but every bit will help.

Any suggestions?
