Learning Spanish outside of High School??

I am currently a freshman in Spanish 1, pretty easy A. I want to become fluent in Spanish because many people in family are, even though I grew up as a typical white english-speaking kid. Would taking Spanish 2 over the summer at a local CC and doing Spanish # as a Sophomore be a good idea? Or should I do a Spanish Learning Program and just skipping maybe a level or two (my school lets you skips language levels if you're current teacher says it is fine, and I know a few who have done it, so it would be pretty easy to skip a level) be a better option?

Side note: I am not doing this just to get into top colleges, I actually am interested and want to become a fluent speaker eventually, and if possible, in high school.

I found Spanish easily self-teachable. I got rejected from Spanish 1 freshman year since there was a lack of space in classes. I took Spanish 1 sophomore year, consequently.
I say save your money and self-teach yourself over the summer. Just go to your bookstore and grab one of those language self-teaching guides. I surprisingly found Spanish for Dummies really useful.

I guess that sounds okay, but I wanna be able to skip maybe a level or two, are there any programs/classes like at a CC I could take to do that?

You want Spanish classes to be on your college transcript.
Some colleges want 3 years of foreign language in hs as a requirement to place out of taking fl in college.

Work with the Spanish teacher at your hs to help you reach your goal of fluency.

well my school goes up to Spanish 5 and has two years of Spanish for Spanish speakers , so I don’t think I would have a problem of not being able to continue, but I watt to b able to skip a level…

Our public libraries carry an extensive on line language program for free with your library card. It is call Mango Languages. It takes self discipline but very convenient and free:).
I have also seen Groupons for on line language programs- can’t remember the names.

bump ____________

If you want to skip a level, self study over the summer (or take a CC course, either or) and when the new school year starts, request to skip a level in the language course. Normally, they’ll give you a placement test.
