Least party UCs

I have been looking at the UCs lately and some of them seem to have a party reputation (UCSB). I was wondering which ones have less of that atmosphere. I'm sure UCB and UCLA do, but what about the lower level schools? Thanks

Irvine and Davis

They all have frats and sororities, so there are parties at the other UC’s. Maybe not so much at Merced.

It seems that the Greek system is smaller at UC Santa Cruz, would that mean that it is less of a party school? I don’t mind a school that has frats, sororities, parties (I would imagine that most colleges do) I am just wary of any school where that sort of thing is a huge deal at the school. Or schools where drugs and alcohol are abnormally prevalent.

UCSD/UCD/UCSC will probably have the least party atmosphere. As stated above, Frats/Sororities are on all the campuses, so there will always be parties somewhere. My older son is at UCD and lived across the street from Frat Row which started partying Wed nights through the weekend. Other than the noise, it never bothered him. There are plenty of students on all the campuses that do not participate and feel the same way as you. It should not be a problem.

Any school that has a high density of students living nearby is going to have a party scene. UCSB admittedly takes it to another level but, even there, the studious can and do thrive. All the UCs are selective so, you have to be a pretty solid student to get in. Each student can choose to participate - or not. Don’t let high profile partiers scare you away from your dream school.

Nope, daughter is at DAVIS, lots of parties with that college town just steps away and all of those eateries and frat sand sororities.

^ The nice thing about UCD is that it’s also very easy to avoid that scene if you’re not into it. At least, me and my friends have had no issues avoiding parties the past couple years. I’m sure this is the case at a lot of schools even if there are a lot of parties in the vicinity.

To the OP: From what I’ve heard, UCSD doesn’t have much of a party atmosphere. And a friend over at UCSC says that the parties over there don’t get too wild. As said before, UCD does have a party scene but it’s easy to avoid. I’m not too sure about the other UCs, other than UCSB having a party reputation (not that you have to participate, as NCalRent said).

UCSF would seem like a candidate, being all graduate/professional students.

My top 3 from appearance; UC Irvine, UC San Diego, and UC Berkeley.

Edit: UCLA is actually the 2nd most party school of the UC system, hands down (obviously after UCSB).

Not UCSD; the way they are set up geographically, they can be asocial.

Thanks for the info y’all!
