Leave an ivy and transfer twice?

Hi CCers,

My situation is a bit complicated and want to have some advices. Any inputs would be appreciated!

To make it short, I transferred from one of Oxbridge to an ivy and want to transfer again.

I am an international student who transferred from UK after freshman year mainly because of the limitation of Brit course system(you can't really study for more than one subject). However, I found my current school to be fairly depressing and hated it a lot after a few weeks.

I was not able to visit this school before committing to it due to the high cost of international flight ticket but both the campus and administration here have been quite disappointing. Unlike my previous school where there are tutors who talk to me every week, basically no one cares about me in this place and I can't even get any personal attention. Professors only care about research and don't pay attention to undergrad teaching, which also frustrates me.

I visited a few other schools in weekends and found that they are much better than my current school; I even start to doubt how my current school could be in the same league with some of these fantastic places in the first place. After these visits, I desperately want to leave my current school, which is mediocre by any measure, and transfer to any of the schools I visited and loved.

I have solid grades and am very familiar with the transfer process because I have gone through it once, but I am not sure whether transfer twice would be a huge disadvantage for me, especially considering that I transferred from a top school to another top school and now want to transfer again. Would this sound weird and hinder my chance? Any advice regarding how I should explain it? Anyone experienced similar issues?

Thanks guys!

You are entitled to transfer again, providing you are accepted. There is nothing wrong with it. However, you may have a problem of credits being accepted by the target school(s). If you are comfortable with that, go ahead.

Thanks for your input! I know I can transfer but I am not sure how this(i.e. transfer twice) would be viewed by the admission committee. Someone told me this is gonna be viewed quite negatively, any idea related to this aspect?

I don’t see why it would matter. You’re still going to apply, right? If you really have your heart set on transferring, just make sure one of your target schools is a safety.
