Is it bad to go on a leave of absence before transferring to another university? I am a rising senior and the school where I am currently enrolled does not have a strong accounting program, I would like to transfer to a good school that has accounting (I am looking at Wake Forest, Maryland-College Park, Lehigh, BU, and Baruch). Since I already have close to 100 credits and schools will take 60-90 credits max there is no point for me to earn additional credits if they are not going to transfer. I can't transfer for Fall 2010 since its too late now and can only apply for Spring 2011. While I am waiting for my admissions decisions can I just withdraw from my college or request a leave of absence. If none of these schools accept me I can always come back and finish my degree there and apply to graduate schools for accounting. I would rather transfer because it will be faster since I have to take time off to study for the GMAT and by the time that is over I may not even have time to apply for september 2011 admission but if I transfer I will be able to continue in January and be done in 4-5 semesters.

I thought that with a lot of schools that only took 60-90 credits, they didn’t even look at applications with well over that amount.

I say you should contact someone at the admissions office where you’re looking to attend.

The schools that I talked to: WF, Maryland, Lehigh, and BU said they wouldnt care about taking me even though I have so many credits but they said I should be prepared to spend a certain amount of semester there–if I am okay with that then I should apply
