Leaving a class early vs. not going

(I'm a freshman, and I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.)

It's a lecture class with ~150 people, attendance isn't required, it meets for 50 minutes, and I'd be leaving 30 minutes early. (We're required to schedule an appointment with an assigned adviser, and I accidentally scheduled it for a time when one of my classes meets. I emailed him about it and I haven't gotten a response, so I think the only thing I can do is go to the appointment when it was originally scheduled.)

People will still be adding and dropping classes in the first few days of school, so it wouldn't look bad if I didn't show up at all, but it's going to be a hard class and I don't want to just skip the first day. Would it look bad if I went and then randomly walked out?

It’s just one time? Then it’s nbd.

Just sit near the back so it’s not disruptive when you disappear. It won’t be a big deal if you leave early, so long as you’re polite about it.

Yes, don’t draw attention to yourself when doing it. You may even want to approach a TA or prof quickly before class and let them know what’s going on. That way you don’t miss any papers or important notes.

Unless the class is at 8 AM Monday morning, there’s still plenty of time for you to meet with the advisor and for them to get to the office on Monday and respond to your email. Frankly, if the appointment is not an emergency but rather a routine meet-your-advisor sort of thing, I’d stay in class and reschedule the appointment.
