Leaving before last semester

I am almost done with college and I want to transfer. I’m embarrassed by my school and could have attended a much higher ranked college. I have no plans after graduation right now, so I figured if I’ve invested so much money and taken out so many loans for this degree I might as well be proud of it. All of my transfer applications have been rejected the last two cycles.I am ready to just leave school and keep applying. Am i insane? If no one gets a job with a college degree anymore, what’s the point of even graduating immediately?

You have one semester left. Very few schools accept senior transfers. You have loans that you will need to begin repaying within six months of graduating. Stay in school, it is your best option.

Just finish. If you want to go to a more prestigious school, do so for graduate school. If you actually find a school who will accept you at this late stage of your education, they’re not going to give you transfer credit for a lot of your coursework. That would leave you going to school for another year and a half to two years. You might as will spend that two years in graduate school.

You are choosing the wrong thing to be proud of. It is not your school but your own accomplishments. If you have solid grades and a major you like then finish up and be proud of yourself for doing it. I agree with the notion of going to graduate school if you feel you need more than just the 4 year degree and if you have a good GPA and letters of recommendation, you should be able to get into a good program.

Yeah but I don’t really have any accomplishments and have a terrible inferiority complex. I can’t get over the feeling that I went to an expensive private school that really wasn’t worth it, and I have to find some way to justify it to myself. It’s really tearing apart my psyche.

“Yeah but I don’t really have any accomplishments and have a terrible inferiority complex.”

OK. Time to get yourself into the counseling center to start working through some of these issues. Back when I was in college, the panic that sets in for so many students in the last semester or so even had its own name “Senior Clutch” because so many students start grasping at straws. You won’t be the first person with this kind of issues who has turned up at the counseling center. Let the professionals there give you a hand with things.

While you are at it, get a full medical check up as well. Your emotions may be a mess because you something in your body isn’t working properly right now.
