leaving ethnicity section blank

<p>So, if you leave ethnicity blank, are you just assumed to be a non-URM? At MIT and also other schools, do adcoms try to figure out your race from your name, parents' country of origin, and other biographical info?</p>

<p>With all the applications these people get, I highly doubt they go ethnicity-hunting on blank applications.</p>

<p>You aren’t required to, so it won’t affect your application. It would only be stupid if you were AA or Hispanic or whatever other URMs that get affirmative action on their side…</p>
