Lec-Dis Sections - What are they?

Okay, so I registered for BUAD-250, and I followed the instructions:

BUAD-250A Core Concepts of Accounting Information
Register for 1 lec & 1 dis

I registered for 1 lecture section, and 1 discussion section.

But towards the bottom of the list, they have:

14515R - 14515, 14516, 14517, 14518, 14539, 1450 are Lec-Dis Sections. They are partially web-based and meet on-campus once every other week. Add Lec-Dis 14515R 40 6 0 10:00-11:50 M HOH305

Do I have to register for the Lec-Dis in ADDITION to the lecture and discussion sections? Or is that optional and replaces the Discussion section altogether?

I believe Lec-Dis sections have online lectures instead of actual in-class lectures. The day you meet on campus is probably to go over important material or something.

I think that's what my friend said.

Lec-Dis is the online section and the time stated is when you meet for discussion. Every week, Merly will go over the module (a little bit of lecture, problems). Also, you'll have about 5 quizzes so you come to dis. to do those.

Personally, I did the online lecture and it worked really well for me because I could watch the lectures when I had time. And you can still go to the live classes if you don't feel like watching lecture on your computer.
But, if you don't have the motivation to watch lectures at home, then don't do the online class.

So just to clarify, you don't need to register for either a lecture or a discussion if you register for a lec-dis section, right?

yeah, i am taking the online class now
