hi, i have a lecture and then a discussion for that same class back to back. is that bad? my concern is that preparation for the discussion might be hard, since there really isn't any time between the two.

thanks

thanks

What class is it?

phil 232

does the class make a difference?

I think it does...Some classes are set up so that discussion sections lag about a week behind lectures, so new material isn't covered until the week after you see it in lecture. Also, other classes have discussions that are complementary to lectures, that is, they don't cover lecture material per se, but focus on new material. I have not taken phil 232 though, so I am not sure how its discussion is set up...

oh okay

so either way, it'd be okay?

umm, how will it be any different for your discussion classmates? you're gonna be graded against them.

Whoah I'm taking that class next year too, I hear the prof is really good.

maguo, i was mostly just wondering if it'd be more beneficial if there were time between the lecture and the discussion for the sake of learning more

It shouldn't be a big deal....your discussion leader was a student once, they will make sure everything is alright. I wouldn't worry about it.

sorry, mabo, kinda misunderstood you. i never had the exact same situation, but dsmo and I both had great books where there was only one hour between the lecture and teh dis. I actually found it beneficial to have this because the lecture was still fresh in your mind, not that I ever went to lecture.

I had 232 lec and dis back to back. It wasn't an issue. We just discussed what was said in lecture. There's hardly any homework so it's not like you'll need time before dis to finish things up.
