I'm trying to figure out classes I want to sign up for Fall. Some of my classes that I'm interested in, there is one giant lecture (300+ seats) and about 5 discussions. Do I have to sign up for the lecture and the discussion? Also, this may be a stupid question, but I'm assuming that the discussion time I sign up for can't conflict with another class/discussion time?

Yes, you sign up for the lecture and discussion together.

Even if there’s a time conflict, Telebears will still allow you to add the conflicting classes.
Ideally you should avoid classes with time conflicts. But in some cases, people do it anyway esp if they really need the class and they can’t get into another discussion section. For some classes, you don’t really need to attend lectures/discussions, and you can learn most of the material from the textbook/ppt slides so you can get away with not attending lectures/sections. As long as the mts/finals don’t overlap, it’s possible to take classes with the same time slot. If you have to, try not to overlap lectures; lectures and discussions at the same time is sometimes fine. Depends on the classes in question.
