DUDE I’m from Sudan too! I wrote about how having parents that aren’t familiar with the education system here meant I had to figure out things on my own and why that led me to start a program that mentors middle schoolers and prepares them for high school. As for leadership I also wrote about what it means to me.
I also know what you mean about the application type essay. I had no idea how to get personal in an essay especially since those are the types of essay I regularly write.
Omg, your essays all sound exceptional and really great. I wrote mine about being a queer person of color and the marginalization I face from the public, and even from the queer community because it has become dominated by white people. My second one was starting my school’s very first Latinx club where Brown students have a place to create discourse about issues that affect us. I hope LEDA sees something special in all of us. Best of luck! <3
One thing I noticed on the website is that they say that they give priority admission to first generation students. My parents got degrees back in Sudan so I’m not first gen , but I don’t really think that’s fair because those degrees are pretty much worthless in America. :-/
@leenefc
I know right am here shaking like crazy. But I don’t think you should doubt yourself because we all have an exceptional story to tell the world. LEDA is a wonderful program but it would be lucky to have us…
@Visionary7 I feel the same way, there’s so many people who did something really cool and went through something that no one has like building organizations or expriened horrific things and I didn’t do neither of that. Just know everyone has something unique and maybe yours standed out
