i see from the columbia website faq's that CC accepted 113 children of alumni... does anyone know the total number of legacy applicants? i have heard that columbia does not accept many legacies, but 11 pct seems like a lot. how does that compare to other ivies? thanks.

And another legacy related question :) If my mom went to business school there, does that count as a legacy?

According to the Columbia website: "being the daughter or son of a Columbia graduate may be an advantage in the admission process. This advantage may especially apply for legacy candidates." They define legacy as the child of an undergraduate alum of Columbia Colllege or Fu Foundation engineering school... So, it would appear to help if your mom went to business school there, but not as much as the kid whose parent went to Columbia College or engineering. Best of luck to you.

Ok thank you! I'm crossing my fingers...although I guess it didn't help that much, since I got deferred..:)
