<p>to some degree, yes</p>
<p>i hear legacy is a big boost for cornell, but just the other day i heard story that seems quite peculiar. a student with two generation legacy (i think father and grandfather) and fine stats was outright rejected. you never know...</p>
<p>caveat
you really shouldn't rely on legacy for acceptance.</p>
<p>A legacy is a parent only at most schools. Grandparents at some below the top tier but never a cousin! UCs give no legacy/family present attention.</p>
