Legacy/Alumni

I was wondering whether Legacy/Alumni is really a big factor in admissions. My sister attended Georgetown; if I apply there, would I have a greater chance of admission, assuming my grades and such are ok?

No, a sister doesn't make you a legacy. Some schools give a boost to those whose siblings are currently there.

Well, naturally it's always a factor, so you're chance of admission would be improved there.

however, if you don't want to attend georgetown, or if the school isn't sufficient enough for you in the field you wish to pursue, then don't apply there. apply to the schools that YOU want to go to, and don't base it on chances of admission because your sis went there.

if you don't like the school, then don't go, regardless of "odds". however, if the school does strike an interest with you, applying can't hurt, and relation can't hurt either.

i see i see... bummer!!
