Legacy at Duke, Apply ED?

Hi there,

I go to Exeter and have pretty good grades in all the hardest classes, with an ACT of 32. ECs are really good, plus I’m from North Dakota. Do I have any chance at Duke? I am a legacy and my parents give a lot of money to the school.

Yes you have a chance. Your ACT score is within the middle 50 accepted range, although on the low side. Look here

Good grades at Exeter, a resident of NDakota, legacy, + large donations? Yes, really good shot if you apply ED. ACT of 32 will not remove you from contention if that’s what you’re asking about.

Do your parents have a contact in development? If so what did the development people say?

@sgopal2 is right on the money. Duke does special visits for legacy kids and often will help them assess their chances. They want legacies to apply ED. Overall, I think your odds are good if you keep working senior year and apply ED.

Going to a school like Exeter and doing well is always good, considering it is a feeder to top schools. The legacy + ED would seal the deal pretty well I’d say, if no other red flags come up.

Thanks for responses!!
