My mom attended Georgetown (SFS) and I want to apply EA for SFS this coming fall. How much do you think having legacy would help my chances?

Legacy is not taken into account EA, only RD. You’re on your own for EA.

^^That’s interesting. At most schools, legacy counts less (if at all) RD.
Just curious: what’s the source of your information?

my admissions officer

It’s because EA is non binding, and nobody gets rejected,

^^Got it. So your admissions officer offered this proposition with respect to either just GU or EA in general, but not for ED, because that is binding?

Georgetown University does not consider legacy as a “hook” during the Early Action application procedure. Georgetown does not offer ED so I fail to understand your entire question.

Usually legacy is more heavily weighted in any early admissions program (EA, EAII, or ED). That’s more of a general rule, but I’m unfamiliar w/ Georgetown’s specific policy.

I’m a legacy student attending Georgetown next year. I got denied from ED and accepted during regular admission so it makes sense that they weight it more during RA. Honestly, I wouldn’t have gotten into GU without it.
