well, i REALLY like michigan, but i'm going apply to some other schools as well (just a few) so that i perhaps will have more of a choice. but if i end up at michigan, i'll be super psyched.

thanks!

If you don't mind my asking, what other schools are you applying it? What do you want to major in?

-i'm applying to penn, harvard, yale, and columbia

-i want to major in anthropology

-these are all reaches (i think penn is more of a possibility) because michigan was my top choice for schools i felt were a good match, so i'm not applying to any of those (ie. washington u in st. louis, tufts)

-i REALLY like michigan though so if none of these work out (or even if one did actually) michigan is a great possibility!

I think you have a decent chance at Columbia and Penn...but neither is worth going to over Michigan if you wish to major in Anthropology (Michigan is ranked #1 in Anthro). Harvard and Yale will depend on your essays. I would not be surprised if you got into one of them. Harvard, I would pick over Michigan...can't beat Harvard. Yale is a great school, but New Haven leaves much to be desired.

Anyway, good luck to you and keep us posted.

wow. thank you. i honestly don't know if i have a chance anywhere just because all of the schools are so competitive.

out of curiousity, why do you think that i would have a better chance at columbia (i'm just curious)? the way that i thought about it, i thought that i have a decent chance at penn (~20%), but harvard, yale, and columbia are all tied for difficulty to be admitted too (~10-12%).

i'd love your input.
thanks!

Although it is true that all three schools accept 10%-12% of the applicants, the quality of those who apply to Harvard and Yale is significantly higher. All three are tough to be sure. Columbia accepts roughly 25% of students with your stats, compared to 10% at Harvard and Yale. But your chances with Columbia are relative good, prvided you wrote good essays. H and Y on the other hand, are a crapshoot. I hope you gave your essays 100% of your efforts and attention.
