Ok so I know that Stanford says on its website that siblings do not count as "legacy," but do you think having a sibling who graduated from Stanford helps.... at all...?

I think family relation might count for something, if not necessarily legacy. I think that if you and another applicant were in a tie, it might decide it.

^ Agreed. And if your parents send a little money, that might help too.

but it just doesn't seeem fair^
The whole money thing that parents send to colleges are from "Parents"; not the student. Admission should be based solely on what the student have accomplished. Not the parents. The Leeway that they're giving Legacies && athletes annoys me

^ Really? Let's compare the options colleges have:

Admit the development case (the student whose parents are likely to give oney), and receive money to develop the school's infrascructure and add money to the endowment, creating scholarships for students and guaranteeing need-blind admissions.

OR

Not admit the kid, and let the school stay relatively the same.

^OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BURN.

^^God that was obnoxious, but so worth it.

Haha right
but you never know, the kid that actually didn't get admitted over the legacy might be the same kid that will one day turn out to be as rich as Donald Trump and give God knows how much money; probably like what? $999999999999999.............so come on.....lets be serious.....Legacy shouldn't play a part in decision

If my child ever get into Columbia because I went there (hopefully if I get accepted come fall 07') && gave money, I wouldn't feel too hype

But your child wouldn't get in ONLY because you went there, because my guess is you'd instill a love of learning and a desire to succeed in school, which would likely inspire them to achieve at a level that would grant them admission to Columbia University.

yeah pretty much. Wish me luck this Fall me myaaannn

Will do you b&^h a$$ mother f&*&er ho slut. All meant in the kindest of ways of course. :-)

LMFAOOOOOOOOOO
I don't think you wanna get kicked outta CC
LOL nah but thanks

It probably counts for something...but unless you are an outstanding student I'd be wary of chances at Stanford. A girl I know was a great student from a very good private school that was a double legacy - both her parents went to Stanford for undergraduate and were active alumni. She applied ED - rejected.

You either have the legacy sticker on your app or you don't. Sibs don't but it can be a tip if they are at the school now.
