Hi, just wondering how much legacy matters at Madison.
I have the grades and test scores to get in, but many students from my town apply to Madison, and the university can only accept so many.
So, if everyone on both sides of my family since my Great-Grandfather went to Madison, will that help my chances whatsoever?
Perhaps. Go ahead and apply. Your own merits matter most. btw- in past generations it seemed easier (ie lower stats) to get into UW so some of those ancestors may not have gotten in with today’s competition. Of course UW will not know your ancestors’ records, just that they have a UW degree (thank goodness our HS and college records become ancient history!). Just assume that YOU have the credentials to do UW work and be accepted without needing legacy status to tip the balance.
