Legacy Boost?

My Dad was an assistant professor at Penn for 3 years at the Math Department. Just wondering if that will help me at all, like legacy does.

Yeah, it should help you. I’m actually not sure which would help you more: being a legacy or having a parent work/have worked at the school. It should give you some boost. Wasn’t there a section on the application asking for any relatives that work/worked at the school?

Anyways, best of luck! Did you apply ED?

actually I applied Yale SCEA, but everyone kept on telling me Penn because of my dad. I am still debating RD only because I don’t really like Philly that much, having lived there for a while. Anyways, GOOD LUCK on your apps too, I have a best friend who applied ED so I know how nervous everyone is!!

Cool! If your not really into Philly and your applying because of your dad, I suggest you don’t apply… but, to each his own.

Yah still debating about whether to apply or not RD, because I really dislike people who have no intention of going to a school but apply anyways just to see if they can get it. I know a ton of people who applied to a ton of safeties just so they can say I got in all of 20+ schools. Not that Penn is a safety for me!

Yeah, I feel the same way. You might have a change of heart in the next couple of weeks and decide you do like Penn and want to apply… but if it’s not somewhere that you’d be really excited to go to, it’d be a shame if you applied and took a spot for someone who really wanted it.

Anyways, have you heard from Yale yet? If not, best of luck!!! :)

Penn EDers are so lucky to find out today, I have to wait until the 15th and sometimes the system crashes so some people don’t find out until the 16th which is my friend’s birthday who also applied Yale SCEA.

I applied to Wharton with double legacy did not get in and my grades/SAT were around the Wharton average. Dont know what to say…

^ What is the Wharton average for Stats and grades? Don’t worry its Wharton’s loss, but another great school’s fantastic gain!!!

I was just comparing my scores to the Wharton naviance scattergram from my school and I fell perfectly in line. For my IB school the averages was a 6.3 IB 4 year gpa, and 2200 SAT. Thanks.
