Legacy chances

My Mom went to Cornell as well as her two siblings, and my grandfather worked there as an Art Director for many years. I’m not even sure if my Mom donated any money and the same for my Aunt and Uncle who also attended the University. Does legacy help me out in this case? If so, by how much? Thanks

Regardless of money donations, your grandfather and mom will definitely benefit your application chances  However, while things like legacy and essays may aid the sick, they can’t raise the dead, so make sure your other application points are still good

Additionally, could u chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1835410-chance-me-and-ill-chance-you.html#latest

I suspect it’ll help a little, but not much. You really have to have four years of great grades, great test scores, some good ECs, some great letters of recommendation, and good essays. If yourethane a little weak in one area, legacy status may be enough. But a significant weakess, no.

@jackisawesome : I’d love to help you out but I’m not familiar at all really with the colleges that you mentioned you are applying to besides cornell… but your transcript looks excellent and the excellence in extracurriculars is impressive, so I would say you seem to be in a pretty good position. Good luck!!
