Legacy.. family relations

THey told princeton review that they consider alumni family relations......
Im not to sure what "considers" mean...... like they'll look at them and it may help if you are borderline?
Thats how i interpreted it... help please...

Also would 2 cousins that already graduated help???
^haha im desperate

thanks for all the help

I dunno. It certainly isn't gonna get you in if you have all B's and C's, no honors/AP/Collage Courses, one club, and a 800 on the SAT, but I assume it helps a little more than they let on.

But for anyone who has a more credible answer, I would like to ask as well. It's a bit stronger for me though... both my Parents went, as well as my Uncle, and they will all be over 50 by the time I apply. (The age only matters for scholarships I think)

I don't think cousins will help you in any significant way, unfortunately.

Of the entering class, 18% had legacy (which I assume means parents, possibly grandparents are included.)

There are some other topics on this. Here is one useful thread to get your started: (In the future you might also want to try doing a search, since this is a fairly common topic)

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=191472&highlight=legacy%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=191472&highlight=legacy</a></p>

What about Step Uncle? :-)

I believe that if there are 2 prospective students with the same/similar qualifications but one is a legacy and the other is not, the legacy student will be given the thumbs up. However, being a legacy certainly isn't a guarantee of getting in the school.

Oh, and I think most legacy considerations are for parents/grandparents. I don't think many colleges take aunts/uncles/cousins into account...

Unless, of course, said Uncle/cousin has given LOTS of money to the school (as in more than 1 million)

What about siblings? I go to USC now and I want my little sis to apply :-)

In response to sfgiants: "Of the entering class, 18% had legacy (which I assume means parents, possibly grandparents are included.)"

That number is useless though. What would be helpful is the percentage of legacy applicants that were accepted.
