Legacy=In State

I heard, maybe a false rumor, that if you have legacy, you are also in the instate pool for admissions (but not financially). I was wondering if anyone could confirm this, because out of state I have no chance, but in state is a whole different story...I think at least

Yes, for the most part OOS Legacies are IS regulars

so, as instate, does a 3.4 (don't know weighted), with all honors and 2 APs Junior year and 5 APs senior year, 35 ACT and 2290 SAT sound possible? The GPA is what kills me, but it did improve from freshman/sophomore year to Junior year...And I can take SAT II's if I really need it, I just have no feel for whether this is a legitimate shot or not...

ok, let me make this a little more detailed:

SAT I:2290, 780 V/760 M/750CR
ACT: 35 (don't know if this matters at UVA)
Freshman GPA: 3.1
Sophomore GPA: 3.2ish
Junior GPA: 3.45ish (school does not weight GPA)
Freshman and Sophomore year I took the most rigorous classes possible at my school, Junior year I took AP Chem (5), Honors Biology, Honors PreCalc, Latin IV, AP Psychology (4), Honors American Lit, as well as Yearbook. Senior Year I am taking:
AP World History
Ap Latin Literature
AP Biology
AB Calculus
AP Literature
and Yearbook
My extracurriculars include:
-Student Government 11,12(secretary)
-Class Treasurer 10
-Piano for 8 years, Superior Plus rank in state competition
-Founder of fishing club
-Special needs camp counselor
-Loads and loads of tutoring for elementary and high school students
-Work experience
And other stuff that I can't think of right now, but more or less the same EC's as others

But most importantly, I do have legacy but I have no idea how much that helps, so if anyone has any input that would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

The gpa is weak, but they are in an upward trend. You just need to write a good set of essays to take care of that.

your sat is excellent but you GPA is seems weak. It would help if you knew your class rank.
