My dad both went to Cornell, and taught there. He was a professor for about 8-10 years.

I'm wondering his previous position as a professor would be a good thing to slide into my application, and if so, how should I? I don't want to come off as desperate for acceptance, but I figure every little bit helps :)

That will probably help a lot if you can get your dad to communicate with admissions. May I ask what school/major?

See the thing is, he taught many years ago… I believe he taught soil sciences, and I want to go into SEAS so it’s at least partially related.

Doesn’t the Cornell supplement ask if you have parent alums or family faculty members? I’m sure you can include it in that section; it certainly sounds like it could help you a lot!

There’s a section for current family faculty members…

yeah. just use that section about alums. that’s what i’m doing.

What do you mean? So you’re going to put it in the “Do you have parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents who attended Cornell?” section? Are you going to make a note in the “degree” section that he taught there?
