My mom, a Yale alumna, received a fairly long letter today about the "role of legacy status in Yale admissions," complete with a flyer of frequently asked questions about legacy applicants. There was something in the letter to the effect of "Although we can't guarantee admission to all legacies..."

Does this mean anything, or is it just a mass mailing to all alumni with kids that applied this year? Has anyone else's parents (alumni) received one?

Yea my dad got one, too. I bet they just wanna keep you interested with these little teasers... along with keeping alumni parents sane for the time being.

Ok dreamsicle, obviously you're just jealous you didn't get this prestigious letter. You know you wanted to be named Yale. It increases your chance of admission by 39.4%.

i guess it's better than being named Berkeley :-\ i have a friend named Berkeley...irony is that he now goes to UCLA (he didn't get in to Berkeley)

zoo is like...zoe? Kalamazoo is actually a very versatile name in terms of nickname possibilities!
shudder
my name is bad enough though...

I think Yale's name is one of the best in the world. I hope he gets in though, because the kid named Yale that goes to Dartmouth must stick out a little bit. Dartmouth is a wonderful school though, although Dartmouth wouldn't be a very nice first name.

Yale is unique to the Ivies in that one syllable says it all. Har-vard. Prince-ton. Yale!
