Legacy Numbers?

I will be an out of state , legacy applicant. I understand that legacies are evaluated as if one were from in state. Is there a way to ascertain what the in state GPA and in state SAT's numbers should be for a successful ED or RD applicant?

It is not simply based on numbers. Why don't you post your stats and the people here will try to hlep you out.

GPA will be about 3.8 unweighted. Heavy with AP courses and honors classes. SAT's will be north of 1300 but not by that much. EC's are plentiful with 3 years varsity crew and all county (and likely all state) in Vocals. Father and grandfather both went to UVA.

Whoa we are basically the same person. I am an out of state legacy too with similar stats. Are you a senior? What other schools did you apply to?

No. I am a Junior. I am planning on applying to UVA, Cornell, Colgate, Wesleyan and Haverford.

bmp - any help on in state numbers would be helpful.

The average SAT of white instate students at UVA is around 1290, and the average unweighted GPA is usually around 3.8 (or whatever puts you solidly in the top 10%)

It looks like you've got a very solid shot, and, if UVA's your top choice, I'd recommend applying early.
