It seems many prestigious colleges only count undergraduate as legacy. Where can I find a definite answer about a specific school's policy? My husband's undergraduate degree was from a foreign country. He had a Master's degree from MIT and a PhD degree from Northwestern University. Anybody knows about the legacy policies of those two schools. Thanks.

MIT's policy is that being a legacy does not factor into the equation. What does happen for children of legacies is that the Director of Admissions gives all their applications a "courtesy read" after decisions are made, presumably so as to be able to tell irate alums who call about their child's status, "I read the application myself and I concur with the decision." Having a parent who attended MIT in some capacity is not a tipping factor in undergraduate admissions there.
