legacy problem?

Hey I have a question. I understand legacy is a good thing, but I'm not sure whether my aunt was a good student or a bad student in college. I have no idea whether she was a dropout or the top 1%. So should I still take the chance and add her in my school? I don't have her number too call either.

Do colleges really check that as well? And what if you write the date they attended 1 year off or something?

Thank you

An aunt will not make you a legacy. She can make you a development candidate if she has given money to the schools, but legacy is when a parent attended and sometimes a grandparent.

hmom is right, but I think that siblings can count at some places.

ok, so what if my aunt donated a lot of money, but she was not a great student?

Just making sure.

And if she did donate a lot, where can I put her name if it only says siblings or parents?

thank you

If she is a big donor to the school she would contact the development office before you apply. They would talk to admissions. You don't need to write her in. It would not matter at all what kind of student she was.
