I have a son who may apply to Vanderbilt (undergraduate). I am a graduate of Vanderbilt Law School. Would he get an alumni preference and if so would it be the same preference as if I were a graduate of the undergraduate school?

Probably not, but it can't hurt to ask the adcom.

For the last 2 yrs, Vandy, in its common data set, has listed alumni/legacy relationships as not being considered for admissions.

I have always felt this consideration of alumni/family/legacy helped distinguish Vanderbilt but I am in the distinct minority it seems.

Vandy's last magazine issue shed more information on the composition of its current freshman class and I would urge you to read it and ponder what they consider important to be admitted.

It is a terrific school.
